Children & Teens

I work with children and teens who may feel anxious, overwhelmed, shy, emotionally dysregulated, shut down, or unsure how to express what they are feeling. Some young people come to therapy ready to talk, while others need more time, trust, and a different pace. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based care.

Therapy can help children and teens build emotional awareness, strengthen coping skills, and feel more supported as they move through challenges at home, at school, and in relationships. I often work with concerns related to anxiety, emotional overwhelm, behavior connected to stress, identity development, family changes, peer difficulties, and life transitions.

Not every child or teen enters therapy feeling comfortable or open right away. Some are quiet, guarded, reluctant, or unsure what to expect. I work in a way that helps young people feel less pressured and more understood, so therapy can become a space where they are able to share more honestly and make meaningful progress over time.

My work with children and teens is grounded in evidence-based care, including CBT-based support for identifying thoughts and patterns that affect mood and behavior. Depending on age, needs, and goals, therapy may also include emotional skill-building, parent collaboration, and developmentally appropriate support for regulation and communication.

Parent involvement depends on the age and needs of the child or teen. I value collaboration with caregivers while also protecting the trust that helps therapy be effective. Together, we can support greater emotional steadiness, insight, and growth.
